On this page

These terms apply to the official Hangrail website and the software and support provided by the project maintainer. The contact email address is hangrail@outlook.com. For the software license, see the License Agreement. For information on how data is handled, see the Privacy Policy.

Free Use

Hangrail is free to use. No software license fee is charged for personal or internal organizational use. Accounts, fees and rules for third-party services such as WebDAV, email and download platforms are determined by the respective providers.

Please read these terms and the License Agreement before downloading or installing. Where explicit consent is required, the relevant prompt and your choice apply. Simply viewing this page does not constitute agreement to additional charges, authorization to use your data or a waiver of statutory rights.

Features and Permitted Use

Use the software as described on the official website for your version, and only handle content you have the right to access, save or share. You must not use Hangrail to violate others’ privacy, monitor others without consent, distribute malware or carry out other unlawful acts.

System permissions, network conditions, recognition languages and platform differences may affect features. Current public installation packages use development signing. For the scope of trust and installation methods, see the Mac Installation Guide and Windows installation guide. A development certificate should not be taken as approval by a platform or public certificate authority.

Data and Backups

You retain the rights to your data. Hangrail processes content to provide the collection, search, transfer, sync or sharing features you choose. These terms do not grant permission to sell your data or use it for advertising.

Keep separate backups of important data. Syncing, clearing, restoring and uninstalling may affect data on this computer or other devices. Check the scope before proceeding. The project maintainer does not hold your backup password and cannot guarantee recovery of content that has been deleted or was never collected.

Third-Party Services and Feedback

Third-party websites and services are governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. A link on the official website does not mean that the project maintainer controls those services or is endorsed by their providers.

When sending feedback, include only information needed to resolve the issue. Do not provide passwords, sync passphrases or private data without redacting it. The visibility of public feedback is determined by the relevant platform. Use the contact email address for privacy matters.

Maintenance and Liability

The project maintainer provides updates and handles issues as circumstances allow, but cannot guarantee error-free or uninterrupted operation on every device. The features available depend on the version and actual operating conditions. They do not replace your own checks of important files and operation results.

These terms do not exclude or limit liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for personal injury or property damage caused by intent or gross negligence. They also do not limit other user rights protected by applicable law. If you have questions about these terms, you can request an explanation at the contact email address.

Stopping Use, Changes and Disputes

You can stop using Hangrail at any time and uninstall Hangrail and remove certificate trust. Uninstalling does not delete cloud backups, shared copies or information already received by third parties.

If these terms change materially, the date will be updated and a notice will be posted in an appropriate place on the website or in the app. Where separate consent is required by law, it will be obtained as required. Updates to these terms will not retroactively deprive you of lawful rights or interests you have already acquired.

You may first try to resolve a dispute by contacting the project at the listed email address. If no agreement is reached, you may seek resolution in a court with jurisdiction in accordance with the law. If part of these terms is invalid, the remaining valid provisions remain effective. Mandatory provisions of applicable law take precedence.
